EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND JAPAN CONCERNING THE AGREEMENT FOR THE EXCHANGE OF INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDERS

Excellency:
I have the honour to refer to paragraph (1) of Article 13 of the Agreement for the Exchange of International Money Orders between Japan and the Republic of the Philippines signed at Tokyo on June 26, 1968, and at Manila on August 8, 1968, which provides that the Agreement shall be approved by each Contracting Party in accordance with its legal procedures, and, thereafter, it shall enter into force on the date to be agreed upon by the Governments of the Contracting Parties.
I have further the honour to inform you that the Government of Japan has approved the Agreement in accordance with its legal procedures, and therefore to propose that the Agreement shall enter into force on August 1, 1969. If this proposal is acceptable to your Government, I wish to suggest that this note and your reply in confirmation thereof be regarded as constituting the Agreement on the date of entry into force between the Contracting Parties as provided for in paragraph (1) of Article 13 of the Agreement.

Excellency:
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's Note dated July 31, 1969, which reads as follows:
"I have the honour to refer to paragraph (1) of Article 13 of the Agreement for the Exchange of International Money Orders between Japan and the Republic of the Philippines signed at Tokyo on June 26, 1968 and at Manila on August 8,1968, which provides that the Agreement shall be approved by each Contracting Party in accordance with its legal procedures, and, thereafter, it shall enter into force on the date to be agreed upon by the Governments of the Contracting Parties.
"I have further the honour to inform you that the Government of Japan has approved the Agreement in accordance with its legal procedures, and therefore, to propose that the Agreement shall enter into force on August 1, 1969. I have the honor to state that the Government of the Republic of the Philippines has also approved the Agreement in accordance with its legal procedures and hereby accepts the above-quoted proposal. Accordingly, Your Excellency's Note and this reply shall constitute an Agreement that August 1, 1969 shall be the date of entry into force of the Agreement for the Exchange of International Money Orders between Japan and the Philippines.
