Philippines - 0070B

5 March 1969

Sir,

I have the honour to refer to the request of the Secretary of Health, dated 3 March 1967, for assistance in conducting a national seminar during 1969 to acquaint hospital administrators with recent trends in hospital administration. I am happy to inform you that the World Health Organization will be able to meet this request.

The World Health Organization will provide: two consultants: one in the organization of medical care (and concurrently seminar director); and one in a specialty that will be decided after consultation with the national Steering Committee; supplies and equipment for the seminar not available locally up to a value not exceeding US$500. This assistance will be provided within the terms of the applicable rules of the Organization and for the purpose of meeting the objectives of the seminar.

The Basic Agreement concluded between your Government and the Health Organization on 28 December 1960 will govern the implementation of this request and the respective obligations of the Government and of WHO.

The Government shall insure WHO, its advisers, agents and employees for civil liability under the laws of the country in respect of vehicles provided for use in connection with the seminar.

The Government will have the responsibility of preparing and issuing the seminar report.

Particular emphasis is placed on the provision of government counterparts to work with and assist the consultants during their assignments.

It would be appreciated if the names of the counterparts could be communicated to this Regional Office at an early date.

Five copies of this letter should be signed. Three are for the use of your Government; the remaining copies should be returned to this Regional Office.

I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,

(Sgd.) FRANCISCO J. DY, M.D.
Regional Director

FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF
THE PHILIPPINES:

(Sgd.) JOSE D. INGLES
