AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF TIME

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress assembled:SECTION 1. Any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, such terms, conditions, or stipulations contained in public land, forest or mineral concessions existing and in force on January first, nineteen hundred and forty-two, as by reason of the war, could not be performed, accomplished or complied with before the promulgation of this law, may be performed, accomplished, or complied with from and after the date of the approval of this Act: Provided, That in no case shall the duration of the period with in which to do so, exceed the length of time fixed by the existing laws concerned: And provided, further, That rentals on any of said concessions shall become due and payable from the date the concessionaire resumes his operation or occupation of his concession, which in any case shall not be later than one year from the approval of this Act.SEC. 2. The duration of the term of any public land, forest, or mining concession existing and in force on January first, nineteen hundred and forty-two may be extended for a period not exceeding the length of time from January first, nineteen hundred and forty-two, up to the date of the approval of this Act, if the Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce finds that an extension of time is justified by attending circumstances.SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.Approved, November 1, 1945.
