[ Commonwealth Act No. 678, August 13, 1945 ]
AN ACT PROVIDING THE MANNER OF DIVIDING THE SENATORS INTO THREE GROUPS, AUTHORIZING THEM TO HOLD OVER UNTIL THE ELECTION OF THEIR SUCCESSORS, AND REPEALING SECTION NINE OF COMMONWEALTH ACT NUMBERED SIX HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in Congress Assembled:SECTION 1. The Senate shall, within ten days after the approval of this Act, determine by lot who of the elected Senators shall serve for a term of six years, who shall serve for a term of four years, and who shall serve for a term of two years in accordance with Section Three, Article Si, of the Constitution: Provided, That the Senators whose term of office shall cease as a result of the lot, shall hold over until their successors shall have been elected and proclaimed.SEC. 2. Section Nine of Commonwealth Act Numbered Six hundred and sixty-six, and all acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.Became a law without the signature of the Executive.Effective, August 13, 1945.
