AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CIVIL GOVERNOR TEMPORARILY TO TAKE CHARGE OF ALL DEPARTMENTS, BUREAUS, OR OFFICES HERETOFORE UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE PROVOST-MARSHAL-GENERAL OF MANILA, AND NOT PROVIDED FOR BY THE CHARTER OF MANILA.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:SECTION 1. The Civil Governor is hereby authorized and directed temporarily, and until other provision shall be made by law, to provide for the administration of any Department, Bureau, or Office heretofore under the direction and supervision of the Provost-Marshal-General of the city of Manila, and not provided for in Act Numbered One hundred and eighty-three, incorporating the city of Manila, by the appointment of the necessary officers and employees of such Department, Bureau, or Office, or by assigning the administration of such Department, Bureau, or Office to any officer of the Insular Government, or to any officer appointed under the charter of the city of Manila.SEC. 2. The Civil Governor is further authorized and directed to designate the officer of the city of Manila or of the Insular Government who shall receive and receipt for any funds or property now in the hands of the Provost-Marshal-General of Manila, or of any officer under his control, transfer of which is not otherwise provided for in the charter of the city of Manila.SEC. 3. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.Enacted, August 6, 1901.
