SHORT TITLE : BFAD Empowerment Act of 2004
ABSTRACT : "BFAD Empowerment Act of 2004" The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) is tasked to ensure the quality of medicines and pharmaceuticals made available to the public. This bill seeks to introduce major reforms in the BFAD to strengthen the capability of the BFAD's regulatory functions of licensing, registration and monitoring. It provides for the augmentation of existing laboratories and the upgrading of their equipment. It also proposes the creation of a drug enforcement unit under its operation and administrative control.
