FULL TITLE : AN ACT GRANTING ADDITIONAL POWERS TO THE PHILIPPINE HEALTH INSURANCE CORPORATION (PHILHEALTH), AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7875, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE 'NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE ACT OF 1995', AS AMENDED, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
ABSTRACT : Seeks to strengthen the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation by authorizing it to go after criminals who seek to defraud the national health insurance funds through false claims by vesting it to: 1) have a visitorial power; 2) expedite resolution of grievances; 3) classify abuses and unethical practices; 4) increase the penalties to a maximum of P100,000.00 against erring health care providers; and, 5) give an inclusion of 60-day filing period within which hospitals must file their claims from date of discharge of their patients.
